Start with the capability you need
Describe what you want to be able to do more confidently. It may be planning a project, interpreting marketing results or making a strategic recommendation. A capability goal gives you a better basis for comparison than a qualification title alone.
Understand the learning model
Compare an apprenticeship, an extended professional programme and a focused course. Consider employer involvement, opportunities to practise, the timetable and the support available. Ask how your current experience affects the route.
Be clear about the award
A preparation course, diploma, apprenticeship and chartered designation are different. Ask who awards the qualification, what assessment is required, whether experience criteria apply and which fees are included. Understand any separate university or professional-body application.
Make a realistic plan
Talk through the study time, responsibilities and resources you will need. Identify who can support you and what might make learning difficult. A clear plan helps you make a confident commitment and get more from the experience.
