Months 1–8: Project Management Professional (PMP)

Complete two credits focused on the project management methods, leadership judgement, governance, planning, delivery, risk, stakeholder and business skills needed by project managers.

Months 9–12: AI in Project Controls

Complete one credit focused on practical AI dashboards, automation, project data, workflows, reporting, meeting analysis and governed AI agents.

Recognition and portfolio

Build credible workplace evidence throughout the programme while working towards Associate Fellow Level 4 — AFIPC Level 4 — from the Institute of Project Controls.

AI in Project Controls Certificate — 4 months

Develop responsible, practical uses of artificial intelligence in project controls, project reporting and project decision support.

• Using ChatGPT and Claude for project analysis, reporting and meeting intelligence.
• Using n8n to automate workflows and approval routes.
• Using Google Sheets as a structured project controls data layer.
• Using Lovable to create dashboards and simple project controls applications.
• Designing AI agents with human review, approval gates and audit trails.

Submit practical evidence, reflective notes and development updates through the learning platform.

Prepare for professional exams

Complete the AI project

Produce a practical AI project controls output, such as a dashboard, workflow, reporting assistant or governed AI agent.

To complete the apprenticeship programme, learners complete the required off-the-job training hours across the 12-month programme.

A balanced weekly commitment combining live learning, guided reading and practical portfolio-building activities.

Monthly coaching meeting

You will have a one-hour monthly coaching meeting. During this meeting, you make a short presentation to your coach about your knowledge, skills and behaviours progression and discuss your evidence, learning needs and next actions.

Progress review every 10 weeks

Every 10 weeks, there is a one-hour progress review with your line manager and coach. Your coach presents your progression, listens to feedback from your line manager and identifies learning needs to support your development and career progression.

Workplace support

Apprenticeship learners need employer support for off-the-job learning. Your line manager should help protect learning time, support workplace application and provide feedback on how your learning is supporting your role and organisation.

Apprenticeships are professional, work-based training programmes for eligible employees. They are not restricted by age, seniority or maximum salary. The learner must be employed and paid in line with the applicable wage rules, and the programme must be suitable for the learner’s role and development needs.
